Commodore CD-7100 1/2 HP Standard Food Waste Disposer

Junk! Junk! Junk!
Well, this confirms my beliefs most amazon reviews are fake just trumped up to sell products.
I have owned 3 insinkerators with mixed feelings so after reading the positive reviews I decided to switch brands and take a chance on the Commodore.
First thing right off the bat is the plastic basket strainer. Why would you make something that needs to hold a heavy torquing motor out of plastic? While tightening the bottom retaining nut by hand it strips the threads so you cannot tighten it sufficiently. The next problem is the small opening in the basket that does not even let water run through not to mention food scraps. When you run the water in the sink with any force it backs up. Even with the disposer running the water goes down very slow. Next problem is the weak motor. It bogs down to almost a crawl when trying to grind, even clear water makes it labor and slows it down. Not sure what I am going to do now but this thing is a waste of $70 bucks. Maybe I'll try a aftermarket...

Works Great!
I just recieved the garbage disposal 2 days ago. I ordered it at 9pm on a Sunday and got it Tuesday afternoon, so my super saver shipping was super fast. When I got it, I checked it out, and it seemed pretty sturdy. Didn't feel cheap like the price would indicate. The box included the disposer, the rubber splash guard, drain plug, PVC elbow pipe, and the metal plate and screws to attach the elbow pipe to the outlet of the disposer.

I just installed it last night, and it was very easy. Installing the part that attaches to the sink only requires some plumber's putty ($2 at your local home improvement store). Once that is in place, the unit has a simple locking mechanism that attaches the disposer securely to the sink. Then just re-route the plumbing as needed, give it some power, and you're ready to go.

I ended up wanting to use a switch for mine, so I converted a 2 outlet recepticle near the sink to a switch and recepticle unit. Then I ran a cable from the powered...

Nice replacement disposer, easy to install
This disposer works very well and was fairly easy to install. I hope I never have to replace it, but if I do I'll probably go with another Commodore!
